Welcome
The
Rugby Football Union is proud to present the annual Strawberry
Hill Music & Fun Day on Sunday 13th July in the grounds of
Strawberry Hill House, Horace Walpole’s little gothic castle
on Waldegrave Road, Twickenham. As well as providing the community
with a fun day out, the aim of the event is to raise funds for
restoration and improvements to the wonderful Strawberry Hill
House, one of the most important and influential of the early
gothic revival of the 18th century.
Following the successful Heritage Lottery
Fund bid, restoration work is due to begin this year and the
Strawberry Hill Trust
and Friends of Strawberry Hill are now working towards the challenge
of raising the final £500,000 to enable to project to proceed
as planned. The Strawberry Hill Music & Fun Day is just one
of the many fundraising events planned for the year and all the
money raised on the day will go directly to the project.
Entry to the event is by donation (suggested
donation £2.00
per person) with children, 0-14, admitted free. We have a terrific
line up of live music on offer from some of the Borough’s
finest including The Three Mustgetbeers, Death in Vogue, Dunk
n’ Disorderly, Narration, The Draytones, Leaf Hound, The
Vibrants, Nark Drool and The Shudders with Tom Nolan and the
Bluescasters and special guests from The Eel Pie Club for a Rhythm
n’ Blues finale. There will also be an abundance of family
entertainment with tours of Strawberry Hill House, fairground
rides, craft and community stalls, food and drink stalls, children’s
entertainment as well as the the chance to win tickets to see
REM in concert at Twickenham Stadium this summer and tickets
for one of the England rugby matches later in the year.
Go to the what’s
on page to find out what’s
happening when. We hope you will come along and enjoy the day.
